“If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are—if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.” – Joseph Campbell
Happy to see you’ve stumbled upon my site. Feel free to get to know me a bit by first learning the inspiration and idea behind my site:
StevenWrigley.com is an attempt to capture and record life’s blissful elements of emotion, diversity, individuality, and sheer beauty from my eyes through the medium of photography, and from my mind & heart through the scope of experience and learning. Life is beautiful. My goal is to prove it.
A bit about me:
First and foremost, I’m a husband and father, and I greatly love and admire my wife and baby girl. I feel like the luckiest man on earth. Nothing warms my heart more or provides a greater sense of purpose than being apart of a family unit. I’m also a “father” to a German Shepherd mix named Koda Bear. He’s a rockstar dog who basically fits right in to living our family’s active lifestyle of spending ample time outdoors and exploring the great Beehive State.
Professionally, I’m the founder and president of Global Outreach Alliance (GOA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established to “empower communities” by promoting self reliance through education, mentoring, and sustainable development solutions. GOA currently has global satellites or local team members in each country where we work to bolster home-grown solutions and local ownership. This calling in life came to me while working in China on a company’s charitable arm. Later, encouraging me to pursue my dreams, one of my greatest mentors gave me the following framed quote:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it” (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
Each year, GOA recruits for, plans and facilitates team expeditions which consist of global volunteers working side-by-side with locals on education, community and sustainable development projects. These expeditions promote GOA’s global program services, and, for our volunteers, offers rare and authentic cultural immersion and life lessons to better understand the realm of responsible community development. You can learn how we’ve established GOA to be different and more effective by vising our site here.
In addition to leading GOA and its global expeditions, I work for Chrysalis, a company headquartered in Utah that handles community-based and behavioral support programs for its clients and individuals with disabilities.I direct Chrysalis’ Host Home and Professional Parent Services. I love my job and find daily satisfaction supporting folks with disabilities to live more fully in a community setting with loving families as caregivers.
I’m also the co-founder of a social business in East Africa (Umoja Social Ventures) where we develop and manage new, viable business models on the African continent that create jobs, train locals, and add long-term value to community togetherness, or “umoja.” A subsidiary of Umoja Social Ventures, Umoja Adventure Travel, is a company I formed to promote responsible tourism and unique adventure travel in areas where tourism may add a clear benefit to local community development initiatives.
Life is good, isn’t it? Go see the bliss.
